Way back when (1998), Toni Morrison labeled Slick Willy "... our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person ..."
Well, shucks. I didn't know how spiritually "black" Clinton was, nor
did I cringe as much way back then, when I first heard "first black
president," because I hadn't paid attention to nor was aware of
Morrison's full logical argument for such a label. Her argument was an
equal-opportunity reflex cringe inducer and offender.
